The Ranger one, have you ever thought that it can be used to smack people who are bodyblocking your present runner? This is just an event for fun. Why are you writing off four classes just because one of their skills isn't good? It's like you're turning this into a GvG match... "Only take these classes, the others are bad, let's do class discrimination all over again!"

If I want to be flamed for playing a Ranger, I'm going to the Deep. I want to play Snowball Arena to have some fun.
why would you ever want to do that in the VERY RARE situation when 3 people bodyblock your runner. if it ever happened i'd much rather have a necro explode in their face dealing aoe damage and a -10 health degen well.

Because it kills one of your party members?

It's obvious that you have a deep hatred for classes outside the Holy Trinity, don't bring it in an event that's meant to be fun.

Every profession has a good role in the snowball fight arena. However, there are some who make the DIFFERENCE:

1) Warrior - the speedboost for the team is essential and the capacity of recharging mega snowball at the beggining is very important.

2) Monk - very good support for runners, ice breaker makes the difference, however it has a long recharge

3) Mesmer (which i play) - the ability of interrupting is very useful in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, etc..blinding snow's recharge is of 10 sec as hidden rock, so i usually stick to a target and interrupt his hidden

4) Elementalist - snares ftw, this is a game of running, knockdowns and snares which are provided by elementalists.

Afterall, snowball fight is unbalanced. Since it is a game of running essentially, any kind of snare can make the difference. And the only reason for this game being unbalanced is the following:
Dwayna's team is equipped with Avalanche, which provides crippled
Grenth's team is equipped with Yellow Snow (sucks), which removes a condition (forget the disease) but its casting time of 2 sec make it easily interruptable.
If you check attentivily when there are no leavers and the teams are balanced (no newbies inside) dwaynas has always advantage and usually (more than 50%) wins.

My order would be:

Mesmer: if used well the interrupt lets you dominate any other character 1v1, and 1v1's happen a lot of the time during the first 15 seconds after a present spawns.

Necro: Insane degen + ice = owned, it also works great as a kind of teleport.

Monk: Just laugh at teams who don't have the coordination to beat this.

Ritualist: This thing pumps out huge dps, its amazing how much damage you do just putting this thing in front of the enemy spawn point. People always just rush past and take damage instead of just killing the thing

Ele: Snares win, though its not all that long...

Warrior: Speed buffs are nice, but its real small, low duration and low AoE. You gain about .5 seconds of time using this, which is kinda sad. Getting 2 (very rarely 3) adren every 40 seconds isn't all that much either.

Everything else: pretty much useless, maybe ranger could combo with snow down the shirt and the fact that its 3/4ths second cast to make better interrupting, but thats stretching it.

Overall, mesmer just beats everything if you know how and what to interrupt. Dwanya's team also gets the advantage with an aoe snare, not many people even bring 1 - condition item.

mesmer and rit are part of the holy trinity, amirite?

i couldn't give a crap what profession it is as long as it serves a purpose and does something better than another character. the ranger's skill in snowball fights is stupid. it's like picking archers signet out of all the amazing ranger skills to represent the class as a whole.

Don't bring your not-serious-ness to a competitive game and then complain about how people are being serious. You can mess around but don't complain when people yell at you for doing it.

WHY CANT WE be friends
why cant we be friends...
Why cant we be friends
..........Read above x5

Look you fine if you choose

Warrior,Monk,Mesmer,Ele,Ritualist.

Necromancer can also be done.

the other classes are really like...useless.

Ele is good if your on grenth, because its like having avalanche.
Ritualist+ snow down your shirt = fun.
Mesmer = Cover Condition, to stop yellow snow, and an interrupt.
Necromancer =, Terrorist, has a bomb attached to its skin and then goes...boom.
Monk = hard to stop
Warrior = Very useful, able to pump out mega snowballs and crap...
ranger=, 35 damage aoe to adjacent? Not really useful, 35 damage vs 50? I choose 50.
Sin =, omfg we gotz to 1 v 1, and you can even still stop the 1v1 by simply timing, useful vs noobs (like serious nubs)
AoG: additional 5 damage (since its life steal) on your opponent.... use snowball 10 times to gain 50 hp back....
AoD, use snowball 5 times to gain 50 hp back.
paragon =, No strafing by bullets plz.

Paragons isn't exactly bad I guess its just not really great.
obscure definitions ftw?

The fact that Anet designed the classes and maps to be so disgustingly imbalanced in favor of some classes, and for other classes to be excluded completely, says a lot about them.

What's worse is the rabid Anet fanboys who play along with it.

Is it that hard for people to roll a PvP char?

I don't see what's fun in being inferior to about 4-5 other classes.

I have only 1 pvp slot and I reroll it constantly.

If you have absolutely none then you more than likely have a character slot for all or almost all classes anyways.

So you have more than likely

Either

A Ritualist, warrior,Monk, necro or Mesmer you can bring.

Right. How do I have all 10 classes with 8 character slots again?

I just don't like the class discrimination that seems to be so blatantly rampant in Guild Wars.

You honestly think that some classes being classified as "useless" is justified?

normal pve is just preference.

Snow ball arena's its cus there skills suck.

YOu dont have to use those class skills.

It's just your inferior to someone with good class skills.

Heh I'd love my my Sin, Dervish and Ranger (My fav classes... 70 Armor FTW)
to have awesome sauce class skills.

Yea honestly i love my ranger, but i'm not going to deny that when i comes to snowball fights, her special skill is useless. My beloved Dervish isn't great either. Thank god for my Rit tho. He rocks in Snowball arena. This in't class discrimination (well it is, but not game wide). It is simple discrimination with the Snowball arena. In PvE all classes have their uses and don't suck, but in Snowball Arena they do.

So we should just stay silent and let the majority of GW players discount us Rangers as useless and subpar? :\
